How does WECA fit into all of this?

Air pollution isn’t just a problem in Bristol, but also in other parts of the region (such as Bath and parts of South Gloucestershire). Addressing air quality problems across the West of England requires coordinated action at a regional level, since the impact of any measure will likely be felt by road users across the region. We are working closely with the West of England Combined Authority (WECA) to ensure that emerging policy reflects the magnitude of the air quality problem and the urgent need to address it. This way, we can ensure the measures being considered can be integrated with, and support, the longer-term spatial planning and transport strategies for the area. This includes the Joint Spatial Plan, Joint Local Transport Plan and Energy Strategy.
